Jim Has conducted in excess of 14,000 polygraph examinations, including Pre-employment, Specific, Criminal and Sex Offender testing. Jim has been a Full-time Practicing Polygraph Examiner since 1979.

Jim holds a B.S. in Criminal Justice, California State University, Hayward, an A.A. from Diablo Valley College, Pleasant Hill. He is a graduate from the Sentry School of Lie Detection, Graduate, National Academy of Lie Detection (Advanced Course). Jim is certified by the California Association of Polygraph Examiners and American Polygraph Association including Post-Conviction Sex Offender testing. Jim is a Full Member of the American Polygraph Association & California Association of Polygraph Examiners, Past President of the California Academy of Polygraph Sciences.

Jim is a member of the American Polygraph Association Model Policy Committee for Post Conviction Sex Offender Testing 2006-2007-2008, and recipient of the 2006 C.A.P.E. “Bob Henson Award” for distinguished work in the field of Post Conviction Sex Offender Testing. Jim is an Instructor at the Backster School of Lie Detection, Post Conviction Sex Offender Training and has Administered Court stipulated polygraph examinations. Jim is retired from the Contra Costa County Probation Dept.

Of the hundreds of polygraph tests of adult and juvenile sex offenders, many were specific incident tests. These were at the request of defense attorneys, law enforcement agencies, court-ordered or requested by parole agents, probation officers, Department of Mental Health, and/or therapists. At least 3,000 tests have been for convicted sex offenders, and were either full disclosure tests or periodic/maintenance tests to monitor their behavior while on community supervision. Many of the tests on probationers have been for Shasta County; others have been for Alameda, Contra Costa, Siskiyou, Lassen, Napa, Tehama, Trinity, Solano, San Joaquin, San Francisco, Sacramento, Yolo, other counties, State Parole and U.S. Federal Parole/Probation. Occasionally Jim administers tests for offenders from other states under Interstate Compact.
